I love watching students progress from sitting in New Student Orientation with me to completing their first exam in Term 1 and eventually to walking across that graduation stage! I have been advising nursing students since 2016, and I have come to the conclusion that Nursing Students truly are the epitome of the word “grit” - unyielding courage in the face of hardship. Our students have decided to complete a known difficult goal, nursing school, and I am here to see them through to the finish line. I get to walk alongside students during this time, to support and amplify their natural grit and determination. That is why I love what I do at Hondros College of Nursing, simply put our students are capable of amazing things!
As an Academic Support Advisor, I work closely with faculty monitoring students' grades and attendance. I often reach out offering help with study skills, time management, organizational tips, or just an encouraging word. My office can be a safe place for students to have an emotional moment or a joyous occasion filled with laughter and dancing!
My best tip for success while in school is to use your resources. If you don’t know what your resources are, please ask! There is absolutely no shame in asking for help and we are happy to help!
