Since I was 13, I always had a part in caring for someone I love. When I was young my sister talked to me about becoming a CNA, but I didn’t pursue it until later down the line. From working in fast food, security, and even call center jobs, I always came back to caring for someone.
While working my various jobs, I met a lot of women in healthcare and the majority of them referred me to Hondros. Then, I knew it was for me when they opened the Detroit location. If I’m being honest, I always thought I didn’t have it in me to become a nurse, but I proved myself wrong. Nursing school takes motivation, determination, dedication, discipline, and tears. Nothing was going to stop me.
My advice to anyone considering nursing school? Don’t wait. Don’t psych yourself out because of doubt or being scared. Healthcare is beautiful when it’s your calling. I believe God will clear your path; it’s up to you to stay the course. Take that step and don’t stop.
