HCN Success Stories
I remember my first day at Hondros College vividly. As I sat in my office with the door open, students and faculty stopped by to introduce themselves, welcome me, and learn more about who I was. The friendliness of the students, faculty, and staff was immediately apparent, and it was clear from day one that Hondros is a true community. We all work together to educate future nurses, providing them with the resources and tools they need for success.

As a Career Services Coordinator, I am dedicated to supporting students and graduates in their journey toward future success. This begins with laying a solid foundation of support, networking, and experiences. I start working with students from COL 099, sharing resources and a term-by-term success plan that breaks down their portfolio and networking tasks into manageable steps. Throughout their time at Hondros, I offer coaching, networking opportunities, portfolio development, and mock interviews. After graduation, I maintain connections to support them as they prepare for and take the NCLEX, and then assist them in finding LPN jobs that match their skills and education.

My approach is personalized and supportive. Whether a student has a resume and work experience or is starting from scratch, I meet them where they are and help them build from there. I walk with them step by step, sometimes regrouping, other times developing a plan, and often celebrating their successes. This support often comes through emails or texts with affirmations or check-ins. I also make it a point to call and congratulate new nurses when they pass the NCLEX, a moment of joy for both of us.

My colleagues are incredible. From the dedicated staff at the Detroit campus focused on student success and teamwork to the Career Services team providing guidance, resources, and a touch of humor, it’s refreshing to be part of a team committed to supporting each other and our students.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me cheering on the Detroit Tigers, riding my bike, trying new recipes, creating stained glass or papercrafting, and traveling. I appreciate that Hondros supports work-life balance.
