I am drawn to nursing because of its unique blend of science, critical thinking, and compassionate care. My journey into the profession was profoundly inspired by the compassionate care I received from the nurses during the delivery of my first daughter. Their kindness, expertise, and ability to provide comfort during such a transformative moment left a lasting impression on me. They demonstrated the profound impact a nurse can have, not just on a patient’s physical health, but also on their emotional well-being.
That experience solidified my desire to pursue a career where I could offer the same level of care and support to others. It continues to drive me in my work today, knowing that as a nurse, I have the privilege to make a meaningful difference during some of the most vulnerable and pivotal moments in people’s lives. The opportunity to build relationships with patients, advocate for their well-being, and contribute to their health outcomes inspires me every day. Additionally, my personal experiences and the challenges I’ve overcome have strengthened my empathy and deepened my commitment to providing high-quality care, particularly for underserved communities.
I decided to attend Hondros College of Nursing because of its flexible program and strong focus on preparing students for real-world nursing. I first started in the PN program in 2020. The instructors' dedication, support, and genuine investment in their students' success stood out to me during my time there.
After graduating from the PN program, the decision to return for my RN education was an easy one. Not only did Hondros offer a tuition reduction for alumni, which helped make continuing my education more affordable, but the relationships I built with the faculty played a huge role in my decision. The teachers went above and beyond to provide guidance, encouragement, and resources, creating an environment where I felt both supported and challenged to grow. Hondros felt like the right place to continue my journey toward becoming a registered nurse.
If you're thinking about starting nursing school, my advice is to go for it but be prepared for the dedication and effort it requires. Nursing school is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Here are a few tips to help you succeed:
- Stay organized! Use a planner or app to manage deadlines, clinical schedules, and study time. Time management is key to balancing coursework, clinicals, and personal life.
- Find your "why"! Nursing school will push you, so having a strong sense of purpose, whether it’s helping others, personal growth, or a love for healthcare, will keep you motivated.
- Lean on your support system; build relationships with classmates, instructors, and family who can encourage and support you. Nursing school can feel overwhelming at times, and having people to lean on makes a big difference.
